Day by Day
Distance: 7 km
Journey from the vibrant city of Arusha to the Rongai Gate, marking the start of your Kilimanjaro adventure. Here, begin your trek through a pristine rainforest abundant with Colobus monkeys and chirping birdlife. The trail then opens to Simba Camp, your rest point for the night.
- Distance: 12 km
Today’s trek takes you through heather and open moorlands towards Kikelwa Cave. With the grand Mawenzi peak providing a dramatic backdrop, this stage of the journey offers fantastic photo opportunities.
- Distance: 7 km
The trail gradually steepens, leading to Mawenzi Tarn nestled beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi. It’s a day filled with breathtaking landscapes and a sense of tranquility as you camp in the shadow of this majestic peak.
- Distance: 9 km
Cross the lunar desert of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut. This desolate region gives you a stark contrast to the lush rainforest and moorland you’ve passed, highlighting the diverse ecosystems of Kilimanjaro.
- Distance: 22 km
Your momentous day starts early as you make the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Standing on Africa’s rooftop, witness the golden glow of sunrise bathing the sprawling landscapes beneath. After soaking in the panoramas, descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
- Distance: 18 km
Descend through misty forests to Marangu Gate. Here, you say goodbye to Kilimanjaro, taking home unforgettable memories and a sense of accomplishment. Return to Arusha, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.

Activities & Transportation
Each day involves 5-7 hours of walking, with day 5 requiring an extended trek to reach the summit. All ground transportation is provided in comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles.
